Golden Valley Lending: What Happened

Golden Valley Lending's original operation is no longer active. It was one of four Habematolel Pomo lenders in a major CFPB case and a $489M class-action settlement.

What happened to Golden Valley Lending

Golden Valley Lending was one of four lenders (with Silver Cloud Financial, Mountain Summit Financial, and Majestic Lake Financial) formed under Habematolel Pomo of Upper Lake tribal law. The CFPB sued all four in April 2017 (N.D. Ill.), alleging they collected on loans that were void in whole or part in at least 17 states; the CFPB later dismissed that action. Separately, a Virginia 'rent-a-tribe' RICO class action settled for about $489 million in total relief (a ~$39M fund plus ~$450M in cancelled debt) for roughly 555,000 borrowers. The live domain is now a lead-aggregator, not the original tribal portal.
